Two people were killed in Russian drone and artillery strikes on the southern Ukrainian city of Kherson overnight, Kherson Governor Oleksandr Prokudin announced on Tuesday.
According to Prokudin, a woman’s body was removed from under the rubble of a collapsed building and a 65-year-old man succumbed to his injuries, while a further 18 people were injured.
Russian forces also attacked railway and energy infrastructure in the central Poltava and northeastern Sumy regions, Ukrainian Deputy Prime Minister Oleksiy Kuleba said, affecting train services and causing power outages in both regions.
In total, Russia launched two Iskander ballistic missiles and 152 drones at the country overnight, according to the Ukrainian Air Force, which added that Ukrainian air defence systems had shot down 88 incoming drones over the country’s north and east.
Meanwhile, the Russian Defence Ministry reported that 184 Ukrainian drones had been shot down overnight, while a missile strike on the southwestern Russian city of Belgorod caused a power outage, according to local Telegram channel Pepel, just hours after two people died in in the city following an earlier Ukrainian missile strike on a power station.
